Sexual Bribery



Sexual bribery is when an employee is promised a promotion in exchange for sexual favors.  This can either be explicit or implicit. (Farrell, 1993, p. 297)

Scenario:  Tim tells his secretary Mary that he will promote her to his executive assistant if you will engage in sex acts with him.  Mary is not qualified to be an executive assistant, but the pay raise is very generous.  If Mary accepts the raise and preforms the sex acts, then she has just accepted a sexual bribe.

Ending Thoughts: Sexual Bribery is especially bad because the company can be damaged if unqualified people are put in positions based on sexual favors.  The executive who promoted the employee should be fired and the employee should not be allowed to sued if the job does not workout, especially if the employee is incompetent.
