The Workplace can be a caring and friendly environment or it can be a dreaded place that employees come to resent. Although everyone would like to work in a comfortable stress free environment, there are 7 Levels of On-The-Job sex that can contribute to a hostile environment. Please take a look at the specific levels listed below....

Sexual Blackmail

Sexual Blackmail is when a boss threatens to FIRE their employee unless said employee is sexual.  (Farrell, 1993, p. 297)

Scenario:  Sally has been working at Dillinger's Law firm for about 6 months as an assistant to Tom who is a junior partner.  Sally enjoys her job very much until one day at work Tom tells Sally that he has another job for her.  Tom unzips his pants and tells Sally that he expects oral sex.  Sally protest and begins to refuse until Tom tells her that he will tell the head boss that she has been stealing from the petty cash fund.  Sally has just been a victim of sexual blackmail.

Ending thoughts:  Sexual blackmail is very uncommon is major companies, mainly because Vice Presidents and upper management know that they will be fired or sued if sexual blackmail occurs (Farrell, 1993, p. 297).  Also it is not good business for the company to fire the victim when the perpetrator is the main problem.
